Corby Town are holding Academy trials for players aged 16-18 at Steel Park in February 2017.
After seeing local lads Jordon Crawford (19), Liam Marshall (19), Connor Kennedy (18), Danny Draper (18), Ryan Bell (18), Bradley Marshall (18), Adam Frisch (17), Dan Smith (17), Jason Smith (17), Joe McBrearty (17) and CJ Tanga-Gibson (17) all featuring in the first team squad so far this season, as well as Northamptonshire boys Sekou Kromah (17), Michael Ogilvie (17) and Obaro Edobor (16), the club is keen to find more local talent and help the players to develop.
This opportunity is available to 16-18 year old boys and girls who have a keen interest in football and would like access to good quality coaching, whilst also continuing their education in a club environment.
The club delivers a 2 year elite program, working in partnership with CKW Academy to provide scholars with access to a full-time football and education course. CKW Academy are part of the Morthyng group, whose success includes its high standing in the league tables. Their Ofsted Inspection Grades support our commitment to quality education.
The scholars combine training with their studies every day from Monday to Friday. The coaching is undertaken by first team player/coach Steven Kinniburgh, who played for professional clubs including Glasgow Rangers and Oxford United. Steve has many links and connections within the English Premier League, English Football League, and Scottish Premier League. In the last year Steve has sent players to trial at teams such as A.F.C Bournemouth in the Premier league and Oxford United in the League 1. Qualified teaching staff from our education partners CKW then work with the scholars towards nationally recognised vocational qualifications.
The program is designed to provide a blend of football and educational studies and those scholars who don’t make the grade as footballers will still leave with academic qualifications and additional life skills. The club also has a commitment to help them find jobs upon completion of the course.
The education program and coaching experience provides the learners with the opportunity to enhance the number of pathways open to them upon completion of the course.
This program is by far the most exciting opportunity for this age group and provides an excellent platform for young people to gain a qualification whilst being a full time youth footballer at a semi-professional club. Corby Town want individuals to apply for the course who have a good work ethic and take a lot of pride in what they do. The scholars will be representing the club, our sponsors, the town and their families as they work through the two year program.
If you think that you are good enough or just want to see if you are then you can register below and show what you can do under the lights at Steel Park.
