“Henri McAuley netted the third and celebrated with an impressive somersault.”

Corby Town completed an early season Northants Senior Youth League double over Huntingdon Town on Monday 23rd October with this emphatic victory at Steel Park.
It was actually the visitors who made the better start and they created, and wasted, a golden opportunity in the opening minute when the centre forward shot wide with only goalkeeper Carl Curtis to beat. Corby's first chance saw the Huntingdon 'keeper push away an angled shot by Jordan O'Brien before Curtis was called into action to head a back pass out for a corner.
An excellent finish by Max McAuley gave the Steelboys a fourteenth minute lead, however, and from that moment on there was only one team in it. Just two minutes later O'Brien set up a chance for Zac Allen who slipped the ball into the net seconds before being clattered by the goalkeeper - who actually came off worst from the challenge.
With twenty minutes on the clock Henri McAuley netted the third after the 'keeper had saved the initial shot and celebrated with an impressive somersault. Six minutes later Henri McAuley pounced again after the 'keeper had saved a header by Dean McBride at the foot of a post and again launched into a somersault which would not have been out of place at the nearby circus.
With five minutes of the first half remaining an O'Brien pass sent Allen clear on goal and he scored the fifth.
O'Brien had been the creator of chances in the opening period but after the interval he took on the role of goalscorer. Twice in the space of ten minutes just before the hour mark he failed to get a proper contact on his shots but on both occasions the ball ended up just inside the post.
In the 65th minute the Huntingdon defence failed to clear a cross and substitute Hilton Arthur buried number eight.
The scoring was completed in the 71st minute when a good through ball found O'Brien and he emphatically flashed the ball into the net for Corby's ninth and his third.

CORBY TOWN UNDER-18s - Carl Curtis; Ethan Kingston, Ben McClafferty; Dean McBride (captain), Henry Glass, Leyton Wells; Max McAuley, Reece Day, Henri McAuley, Zac Allen, Jordan O'Brien. Substitutes (all used):- Craig Sutton, Hilton Arthur, Sadiq Archer, Hussain, Ahmed.
