Corby Town v Frickley Athletic

1 week ago By James McCafferty

This weekend, the Steelmen look to carry on their unbeaten league run against Frickley Athletic in the The EVO-STIK South

Frickley Athletic v Corby Town, Saturday 11th November, 3pm

It is a battle of two teams who spent all of last season at the wrong end of the premier division, but are hoping to right the wrong of last term.

Corby go into this match on the back of a 5-0 thrashing of Belper Town, with goals coming from Paul Malone(2), Jordon Crawford, Jordan O'Brien, and an OG.

This was the Steelmens 6th league win in a row, and 7th out of 8 in all competitions, in what can be called a season of two halves up to now.

After 6 weeks of the season, Corby were languishing 4th bottom in the league, with 8 points on the board from 10 league games and a panic setting in around the fans that this could be another season of doom and gloom.

The following 5 weeks have seen the Steelmen pick up 18 points from 6 league games to fire them up to 5th in the table. Steve Kinniburgh and his team also fired Corby to a first win in either the FA Cup or Trophy in 4 years!

The moans and groans of the supporters have gone, replaced with encouragement, singing, and even the return of the drum!

This weekend will see the Steelmen embark on a trip to South Elmsall, West Yorkshire, the home of Frickley Athletic.

With a game in hand, Frickley find themselves 1 place and 2 points behind Corby, and despite an inconsistent start, wins followed up by defeats for the first 8 games of the season, Frickley have set themselves well at the right end of the table!

The Blues are 4 games unbeaten in the league, Spencer Fearns men will be hoping to get revenge after the Steelmen left Westfield Lane last February with all 3 points.
