The best way to keep up to date with Corby Town FC

Two Loanees sign on

7 months ago By James McCafferty

Teenage duo, goalkeeper Sam Wilson and striker Zayn Hakeem, have today joined on a one month loan deal from Mansfield

Sam Wilson signed a professional contact this summer at the One Call Stadium having been part of the academy side, run by Corby local Jon Dempster, who won the EFL Youth Alliance for the second consecutive season.

Goalkeeper Sam Wilson has been the club’s U18s’ number one goalkeeper for much of the last two seasons.

After dislocating his elbow midway through last season, Wilson returned in the second half of the season and played a pivotal role in the youth team’s EFL Youth Alliance title-winning campaign.

Following his return, Stags extended their unbeaten run to 10 games, of which Wilson played in six, and made a number of outstanding saves as John Dempster’s side held their nerve to win the title.

Zayn Hakeem has been involved with the first team setup at One Call Stadium fairly regularly over the past 18 months

The youngster has subsequently made a handful of appearances for the first team, showing great pace and finesse on each occasion.

Hakeem has made several appearances for the Antigua and Barbuda U20’s national side.

18 year old Zayn signed professional terms at Mansfield last November.
