After two games in two nights, Steelman boss Graham Drury has advised six players that they will not form part of his plans for the new season.
Lee Windrum, Glenn Walker, Aaron Daniels, Courtney Herbert, Ollie Thorne and Paul Caswell have all been told on Wednesday night that they are free to look for opportunities elsewhere.
The departure of the six players takes the Corby squad down to 20 players ahead of Thursday night's trip to Grantham Town, from which Drury intends to trim the squad again so he can have a good look at everyone in the forthcoming series of three home pre-season games before finalising his squad for the forthcoming Blue Square North season.
Drury explained to www.corbytownfc.co.uk: "It is always the hardest part of the job to tell players that you don't see them being part of your plans. It's tough but I've made it very clear to all of them from day one they had to come in and fight and show me what they were about, show me they wanted to be part of Corby Town's future. They knew that I'd be progressively trimming the squad as we neared the start of the season.
"I'd love to have a big squad but we have to be realistic at this level and it is a horrible situation for them, I understand that. I don't expect them to agree with me. Whatever they feel about the decision right now, I hope they'll look back and appreciate the situation and that by telling them now, that they still have time to get them fixed up with a club.
"I would like to thank them all for coming down and wish them all the best in the future."
