Ten-man Corby Town were denied victory by a controversial equaliser from former Steelman Tyrone Kirk in the dying seconds of their Blue Square Bet North encounter with Boston United.
The Steelmen, who had skipper Phil Gulliver sent off, took the lead through Jean Paul Marna (79), before Kirk levelled for the hosts (88).
Corby manager Graham Drury was dealt a late blow, as goalkeeper Chris Mackenzie broke down in Nottingham and was unable to get to the match, meaning that Jack Drury was handed his first Blue Square Bet North start of the season between the sticks.
The Steelmen took control of the first half and had a brilliant chance to take the lead before half time, as Matt Rhead was sent tumbling by Boston's Alan White. Rhead picked himself up to take the spot kick, however Paul Bostock easily saved his weak effort, to ensure that the sides were level after the opening forty-five.
Drury's men were reduced to 10 men, just past the hour mark, as skipper Phil Gulliver was given his marching orders for a challende on Ian Ross.
That didn't deter the Steelmen however, and Sam Mullarkey was brought down after 78 minutes by Boston's Ward to earn Corby another penalty. This time they made no mistake, as on-loan striker Jean-Paul Marna netted his first goal for the club.
That goal seemed to be enough to seperate the two sides and earn Corby all three points in Lincolnshire, until a late effort from former Corby Town player Tyrone Kirk hit James Ozmen on the line and was cleared. The referee's assistant however signalled that the ball had crossed the line, and referee Guy Stretton awarded the equaliser, much to the bemusement of the Corby Town players and fans.
