Corby Town are pleased to announce that they have reached a partnership agreement with Manor School and Sports College to work with the club's under-19 squad.
Manor School, based in Raunds will become the education providers to the Steelmen's youngsters, in the class room and on the pitch. The club will benefit from the excellent facilities, including a state of the art 3G pitch, at the School as an extension of those on offer at the Triangle and the new stadium. Manor School’s current cohort of high achieving scholars will transfer to this Academy.
Manor School has previously developed a similar relationship with Rushden & Diamonds, where they won the Football Conference Youth Alliance League last season. The side will be managed by Mark Peters, a UEFA A coach, and he will be assisted by Corby Town Youth Development Coach Dale Brunton who owns a UEFA B badge.
Corby Town director Graham Starmer explained: “We're delighted to link up with Manor School and Sports College. They have an excellent reputation locally for the work that they do and we're grateful that they have recognised that in us too.
“It promises to a very mutually beneficial relationship and we look forward to working with them. Together we feel we can make huge strides forward that will benefit everyone involved.”
Some of the players at the College are currently in the second year of their scholarship and Starmer added that the club could be benefiting from the relationship within 12 months:
He said: “The College has already produced players who have graduated from the scheme and played to a good standard and we hope their expertise, combined with that of Mark Peters' and his team at the club can continue to help these players develop and who knows, we might have some young talent knocking on the manager's door this time next year.”
Linda Brooks, Headteacher of Manor School Sports College said: “We pride ourselves on the strength of our partnership working that creates increased opportunities for young people in sport and education. This Partnership with Corby Town will help to ensure our current outstanding provision can be maintained in the future. We very much look forward to all scholars involved maximising their potential in sport and in their education ”
Director of PE and Sport added Glenn Martin: “This is an opportunity to develop a new link into the local community for our young people and enable students to continue playing football whilst completing their education.”
The new Under-19 side will operate in addition to the present Under-18 squad.
Anyone interested in having a trial and to request further information about the Under-19s is asked to contact Dale Brunton at dabrunton@gmail.com or Mark Peters on mps@hotmail.co.uk.
