Stamford have taken a second Steelman on loan after agreeing to a deal to sign Tom Land on a temporary basis. The arrangement is on the same terms as the one Gregg Smith agreed earlier in the week and will see the young defender join initially on a month's loan, with the club having the option to recall him within 24 hours, if required.
The club can also confirm that goalkeeper Will Jones has signed for the Steelmen to strengthen Graham Drury's goalkeeping options.
On explaining the two moves, Drury commented to www.corbytownfc.co.uk: "Will is a good prospect, he knows the division well from his time at Stalybridge and will compete for the number one jersey with Chris Mackenzie.
"He is a youngster but he has experience at this level and he'll really push Chris. Macca is struggling a bit with his groin and that has prompted the decision to let Tom leave on loan. We're travelling with a 16 man squad and I'll need to include Will as back-up to Chris so there is no point having Tom sat in the stands.
"He is a talented defender and one we're lookingat to play a role here in the future but in the short-term, like Gregg, it makes sense for him to go out and get some games under his belt and keep his match fitness levels up.
“We have a good relationship with the club and the manager Simon Clark and I know the players will be looked after there. They'll play at a good level and be coached well, they'll be getting an education in line with how we want to play and it'll be good for both Gregg and Tom to spend time there."
