Corby Town striker Gregg Smith has joined Evo Stik League side Stamford AFC on loan until September.
Smith, who joined the Steelmen from Shepshed Dynamo last term has impressed during pre-season bagging a hat-trick against his new club in a 7-2 pre-season friendly victory.
Manager Graham Drury told www.corbytownfc.co.uk; "Gregg has joined Stamford on loan, initially for a month to see how he gets on but we have a 24-hour recall option should we need it.
"Primarily this move is to give Gregg the opportunity to show what he can do, given a regular run in a side. It's a good move for him, for Stamford and, in the long run, for us.
"He showed last week with his hat-trick from the bench what he is all about, but in order for him to get his match fitness up he needs to play games and right now the quality of options we have available to us means that his chances are going to be limited here, so we hope this short term loan will benefit everyone involved."
Smith will link up with former Corby Town goalkeeper Lee Windrum, who has also signed for Stamford following his release from Steel Park.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
