Corby Town midfielder Jean Sylvain Dossou has been called up to represent his native Niger in an upcoming friendly, against Botswana.
The two sides will meet this evening at the Stade Général Seyni Kountché in Niamey.
Dossou joined the Steelmen from Kettering Town in October 2011, having previously played for Farnborough Town, Potters Bar Town, Kingstonian and Lewes.
Manager Graham Drury was delighted with the news and told www.corbytownfc.co.uk; "We are so proud of him, it is an absolute honour for the football club to have one of our players called up to represent his country on the world stage."
Dossou, who's father is from Niger, has previously represented the Menas at Under 17 and Under 19 level, however this is his first call up to the senior squad.
"He told me that he had been called up in the hotel in Bristol, and he was almost in tears" Drury continued, "This means a lot to Jean Sylvain and everyone at Corby Town is right behind him and very proud of him."
"This is going to be a great experience for him, and everyone at the cluub from the kitman to the fans is fully behind him every step of the way. If Jean Sylvain can impress then who knows, he could be heading to play for Niger in their first ever African Cup of Nations against the likes of Mikel Essien, Samuel Etoo, Didier Drogba and Asamoah Gyan next year."
