Corby Town midfielder Jean Sylvain Dossou is delighted to have been called up to the Niger squad for January’s African Cup of Nations.
Dossou, who appeared on Vox Africa’s Sports 360 programme last week said, “I Feel really great playing for my country, I am on top of the world."
Jean-Sylvain received his first call up for the friendly against Botswana, having previously represented Niger at both Under 17 and Under 19 level.
“I really enjoyed playing against Botswana and can’t wait for the African Cup of Nations. Being called up for the senior side is great, I cant wait to get out there and do well as a team and who knows what the future holds.”
The Mena qualified for their first African Cup of Nations this season and will be eager to take advantage of some of the larger names not qualifying, such as Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon and Nigeria.
“Our first ambition is to go there and do well and try our best, we are happy to be there.
“As far as we concerned we are not really scared of any team, we showed that by beating Egypt in qualification.
“We want to just go out there and play well in the group and try to qualify for the knock-out stages.”
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
