Duo return to make up Corby Town Manager Graham Drury's coaching staff
Corby Town are delighted to announce that Paul Holden MBE and Andy Burgess have both agreed to return to the Steelmen to to make up Manager Graham Drury's coaching staff.
Holden will return as the club's Head Coach and number two to Drury and Burgess rejoins the Steelmen, who he left at the start of the year, as Player-Coach.
“It's a massive signing for the club,” reflected Drury on Holden's decision to come back to Corby. “He is the elite coach at this level, he is a tutor for A and B license and the person everyone else goes to for support. He has coached all over the world, adults and children, and it's a massive boost for everyone that he has agreed to return.
“We worked together when we were in the Southern League and we got got off to a great start, we really hit it off and if it hadn't been for his work commitments with the Army that meant he had to leave who knows where we might be now.
“I can't wait to work with him again and he's chomping at the bit to get stuck in. Pre-season can't come quickly enough for both of us.”
Burgess joined Woking after leaving the Steelmen and prior to that has represented Rushden & Diamonds, Oxford United, Luton Town, Mansfield Town, Chester and Fleetwood Town.
On his return Durry commented: “Andy is really getting into coaching now, it's something he has known for sometime would be his next step and he jumped at the chance to come back, especially given the chance to learn first hand from Paul.
“Sadly Andy coming in means we have had to say goodbye to Tommy Jaszczun. Tommy was keen to move into coaching too but we couldn't reach an agreement to give him that chance at Corby and he'll now move on, with our best wishes, and find his own way.
“He is a top lad and it's a shame we couldn't do something but Burge will fill his shoes and we're delighted to have him on board as part of the coaching team.
“What's more he is still a very tidy player and gives us so many options. He can play on either flank, in the middle, off a striker, he has really quality from his set plays and we'll benefit from Andy's talents on and off the field.”
