Corby boss Graham Drury has revealed that he’s considering making changes to his side for the Steelmen’s next league encounter with Altrincham on Tuesday.
Speaking after Corby’s defeat against Gainsborough on Saturday, the Steelmen manager admitted that his side are struggling to find form in front of goal and he may have to ring in the changes.
He told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: “A couple of our players weren’t at their best today, we had a fair few chances and we just didn’t take them. In all honesty, I can’t believe we’ve lost that game of football today, we had 28 chances in all, but only worked the ‘keeper four times. That’s not good enough.”
“I didn’t think we played particularly badly as a unit to be fair, I thought the back four were excellent today. Unfortunately we gave away three sloppy goals that could have easily been stopped.”
“There may be a few changes needed to be made, but I won’t be making any snap decisions. I need to go away, analyse the game, analyse my game and make a decision based on that.”
Stunned by two quick-fire goals either side of half-time, Drury made three quick substitutions on Saturday in an effort to turn the game around and was pleased with the way his side responded.
“We had to change the way we played a little bit, sometimes when we’ve got Rheady up there I think we see it as an easy option just to lump it up to him. But you can see that we’re not that one dimensional and when we’ve got pace up front we can use it.”
“But take nothing away from Rheady at all; he’s got 13 goals this season so far and no-one’s even close to him. He’s an important part of the plan and the way we play.”
Corby now find themselves on the back of an unwanted four-match winless streak, with three defeats and a draw.
“We’re certainly making things hard for ourselves, that’s for sure. We’ve dropped three points against play-off rivals here today and now we have to win and they have to lose so we can get those points back.”
“But, as I’ve said before, the target at the start of the season was to win more games then we lose and we’re still on course for that target.”
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
