Graham Drury has criticised Corby’s performance in the draw against North Ferriby, admitting that his side just “weren’t good enough.”
Talking to Corby Radio after the game, the Steelmen gaffer bemoaned his outfit’s overall play but was quick to credit their lower league opponents.
He said: “We looked like we could concede every time they slipped a ball down the flanks. Defensively we were all over the place in the first half, a little better second half but still not great. We weren’t firing in either box today actually.”
“I thought we were too open as a team for some reason and we just didn’t have that extra battle in us. They had that today and seemed to want the game more.”
On-loan striker Jean-Paul Marna made his debut in the disappointing draw and although he didn’t get himself on the score sheet, Drury was pleased with the forward’s performance.
“It was difficult for JP today, he’s a touch player and the conditions weren’t great. He was working on scraps for the entire game and still managed to get two shots at their ‘keeper, which has shown that he can get in behind defences.”
“We had three attempts at goal overall against Nuneaton last week and today JP had two of his own, so it shows that's there's definitely more to come.”
Adding another game to an already congested fixture list, Corby are due to play the FA Carlsberg replay against North Ferriby on Tuesday.
