A barrage of bank holiday fixtures are not easy to contend with at the best of times and Corby Town went into their double header on the back of two heavy defeats. But a draw away at Histon and a convincing win against Eastwood has left Graham Drury satisfied.
He told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: “Four points over the bank holiday weekend is a result that we can all be happy with. The draw against Histon gave us a springboard but it was nice to get back to winning ways today.”
“The work-rate of the players was really good, we worked hard from the front right the way through to the back. In fact, the clean sheet was just as important as the five goals and that would have given Mackenzie and his defence a boost.”
“It was good seeing both strikers grabbing two goals each too; it’ll give them a massive confidence boost.”
Turning his attention to the side’s next two games, Drury warned they have two tough fixtures ahead of them.
“Worcester are a very strong side and have proven that so far this season as they currently sit in the top five. Their strikers in particular have been absolutely immense. After that Guiseley are up next for us at home and they are a good footballing side who play the ball well.”
“I’ll be looking for similar performances as the lads put in today against Eastwood. We need to keep the tempo high, pass the ball well and take our opportunities when they are presented to us.”
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
