Corby Town manager Graham Drury was delighted with the team’s opening day victory over FC Halifax Town at the Shay on Saturday afternoon, but had a warning for his players ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Bishop's Stortford at Steel Park.
Drury said: “This is a fantastic start to the new season, but the result is only as good as Wednesday nights. To make this worthwhile we’ve got to do it against Bishop's Stortford and that is our priority as a team right now.”
The Steelmen boss was also quick to praise his side's performance in West Yorkshire, and stated that it was a team effort, rather than just down to his inspired substitutions in the second period.
"The work rate of the team was great, I was extremely pleased with everyone in a Corby Town shirt.
“Jordan Smith and Sam Ives will get the plaudits for coming off the bench to score the goals, but it was players like Paul Malone, James Ozmen and Paul Mayo that put the hard work in during the first half to keep us in the game. Football is a team game and I think we played very well as a team today against a strong FC Halifax Town side.”
