Corby Town manager Graham Drury has captured young duo Jordan Smith and Karl Dimidh from Thurnby Nirvana and Borrowash Victoria respectively.
Dimidh is a pacy striker, who can also operate as a winger. He followed up his 10-goal debut season in senior football with 18 goals last term, attracting the attentions of Corby boss Drury.
Drury told corbytownfc.co.uk; “Karl can play up front but was mainly used wide right last season, where he scored 18 goals. That is a good return from midfield at any level and he is similar to Leon Metton in many ways.
“He really plays on people's shoulders, he'll keep the opposition's backline on their toes because he is the sort of player who is always capable of popping up with a winner out of nothing. He is hungry for goals and I'm looking forward to seeing him score them for Corby.”
Talented striker Jordan Smith has been described as one of the hottest prospects in non-league, after scoring 65 goals last term. Drury revealed that there had been interest from other club’s for the Thurnby hotshot, and that he was delighted that Jordan opted to join the Steelmen.
“Jordan is another player I can't wait to see pull on a Corby shirt. He is going to really excite supporters, he is rapidly quick and powerful. Last season he scored 65 goals, 49 in the league, and there were a lot of clubs interested in him, some from higher up the leagues, and we've persuaded him to come to Corby and I'm delighted to have him on board. He will get his chance and I think that he'll take it when he does.
“We watched him in two cup finals at the end of the season and he scored twice in both games. He certainly knows where the goal is and it doesn't matter what level you're playing at, the goal is still the same size and in the same place so we expect him to do well.”
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
