With pre-season training starting in earnest tonight, Manager Graham Drury took time out from planning the schedule for the next six weeks to reflect on what has been a busy summer at the club.
Having managed to keep hold of some of the in demand Steelmen, he has also been able to re-unite some familiar names to strengthen the spine of his side and has added some promising youngsters, who have been stealing the headlines in the leagues below, with the aim of blending a squad of experience and potential ahead of the new campaign.
Drury told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: "It has been a big bonus that players have agreed to stay here despite more lucrative contract offers elsewhere.
"Having the likes of Phil Gulliver, Ollie Thorne, Paul Mayo, Andy Burgess etc here, players who have played at a higher level is a big boost for what we want to do.
"It will be good to see players like that, players like Steve Towers and Leon Hibbert working with the younger players to pass on their experience and to help them develop.
"There is a good blend there, some young lads with real potential and I can't wait to get them all together and get started. The sooner everyone gets to know each other and gets settled, the sooner we will be ready. I will be challenging the players to hit the ground running."
Despite a busy summer of signings, the one challenge that has so far eluded Drury is snapping up an experienced striker but that isn't something that so far causes him to much concern.
"I'm not unduly worried at the moment, it's very much work in progress. We are keen to bring in an experienced front man to add competition up there but they are the ones that everyone is after so it's quite common that strikers are the last to commit because they like to consider all their options.
"We've got a few irons in the fire at the moment and I'm confident they'll come off. They've been a few we've spoken to who have moved to different clubs in the last week or so so we're at the stage where things will start to happen.
"I wanted to get everything done in the first week of training and it's still possible. A striker remains the final piece of the jigsaw for me and then it'll be up to the players to stake their claim for the shirts in the next month.
"I'm excited, I can't wait to work with this bunch of players and I hope the fans are excited too. With the new stadium, a new playing surface this is a club that people want to be involved with and I think the supporters are going to enjoy watching the side when everything gets going."
