Corby boss Graham Drury believes that Corby Town are due a win on Monday, after his side were denied three points by a second half Histon equaliser on Saturday afternoon.
He told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: “The win is just around the corner, we’re still playing well and hopefully we can get those three points on Monday.”
“We played some really good football for sixty minutes and created enough chances to win the game, but just couldn’t make the chances count. If we’d have grabbed that second goal there was every chance that we would have went on to win by four or five goals, but as it happens we weren’t able to capitalise on our domination.
“Then from about the 60th to the 85th minute they’ve had their spell of the game and put a lot of pressure on us. You begin to think, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll definitely take a point from here’ because they dominated so much in that period. And then right at the end we get a chance and their ‘keeper makes a great save.”
The Steelmen host Eastwood Town on Bank Holiday Monday at Steel Park and Drury says his charges are desperate to earn all three points.
“We are looking for our next win, this today could have been it, but maybe two points drifted away. At the end of the day the positives are that we scored and took a point away from home, which gives us a springboard to work from on Monday.”
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
