Corby Town manager Graham Drury has urged his Corby Town players to impress him during tomorrow's Bob Cummings Cup match against Corby S&L at Occupation Road.
The Steelmen boss has already warned the players that his squad will be cut down to 18 following Monday's match against St Neots Town, leaving limited time for them to prove that they are worthy of a place in that squad.
“The players are aware that the squad has to be cut to a manageable level following the game against St Neots on Monday" Drury told corbytownfc.co.uk, "Every player needs to show me that they deserve to be in that squad over these next two games.
The stand-out players on Tuesday evening included new signings Jordan Smith, James Ozmen, Tom Land and Matt Rhead, however Drury has admitted that nobody has played themselves out of contention during the Coalville fixture.
"As always in pre-season there were a few stand-out performances, and a few who maybe struggled or tried a bit too hard to impress. That said I cannot fault any of the lads for desire and work-rate, they all really want to be part of the squad for next season and wear the Corby Town shirt.
"I know the areas that I am really looking out for, and I know what attributes I want to see from the players, they have two matches to prove that they deserve to be in the squad next season, and show that they have the qualities we are looking for.
"With the opening of the new stadium against Notts County next week, followed by home matches against Stevenage, Luton and then Rangers, none of these players want to be cut. They all want to be part of Corby Town Football Club. Now is the time for them to show that to me and to the fans, by putting in a performance."
Leon Hibbert, Andy Burgess, Andy Hall, Paul Mayo and skipper Phil Gulliver are all expected to return to the squad for the Bob Cummings Cup clash, having been rested for Tuesday's trip to Leicestershire.
