Corby boss Graham Drury pulled no punches after the Steelmen’s latest defeat to Solihull Moors, labelling the performance the worst since he’s been at the club.
Drury’s outfit were simply outplayed in every position on Monday afternoon and the manager wasn’t in the mood to offer his players any respite.
He told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: “There are no excuses for that performance; there was no responsibility out there at all. No responsibility of getting into good positions, no responsibility of passing a football, no desire to create anything and it was just too easy for Solihull today.
“I’m absolutely disgusted with the lads; I’m not going to lie. We’ve gone from hanging about in the play-off area to 8th/9th position and at the moment we’ll have nothing to play for come March with those kind of performances.
“I can only apologise to the fans that turned up today and if I could, I’d repay every single one of them their ticket money back.”
The Steelmen were injury hit and were forced to make changes to their starting eleven, resulting in a make-shift back four and a new strike partnership in the form of Marna and Smith, but Drury won’t be using that as an excuse.
“Maybe we couldn’t put our best 11 out there today, but we’ve got an 18 man squad here and all of these players should be good enough to play Conference North football. If they aren’t good enough then they shouldn’t be here.
“If performances continue like that then we’ll have to start getting ruthless and get in some lads that are good enough to play. I’m not prepared to hang around mid-table; it’s just not my style.
“I want to enjoy my football and there was no enjoyment factor in it today. And I hope it was the same for the players because that was just absolutely abysmal.”
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
