Corby Town’s march to the Wembley Arch continues tomorrow, as they travel to the South-West to take on Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup with Budwiser First Round.
It’s the second season in a row that the Steelmen have reached this stage of the competition and cup fever has spread all over the town, with at least 500 fans expected to make the trip to the Memorial Stadium.
Corby are currently undefeated in their last six competitive matches, a record manager Drury is clearly keen to preserve, having rested his entire first team squad in spite of Tuesday night’s friendly against SPL Champions Rangers.
Having already claimed a higher league scalp against Kidderminster Harriers in the last round, the Steelmen will fancy their chances against Bristol Rovers, a side floundering mid-table in nPower League Two.
Paul Buckle, current Rovers manager, has forewarned his side of Corby’s capabilities, labelling the clash as “dangerous” and has called on his side to concentrate on their own game.
Unlike Corby, the Pirate’s latest form has been rocky as of late, losing five of their last seven matches. They’ll be looking to bounce back from their latest defeat, a disappointing 2-1 defeat at the hands of Accrington Stanley last Saturday.
Corby-born Bristol boy Stuart Campbell has spoken of his desperation to face his hometown club tomorrow, but may have to sit on the sidelines with a calf injury. He is expected to be replaced by Bristol’s new loan signing, Crystal Palace midfielder Andy Dorman.
Steelmen boss Drury is expected to name an unchanged side from Corby’s last competitive fixture, an astute1-0 win against Vauxhall Motors in the Blue Square Bet North.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
