Corby Town take on Blue Square Bet Prmeier giants Kidderminster Harriers in an FA Cup with Budwiser replay tonight, with the winners set for a First Round trip to Bristol Rovers.
The Steelmen will feel slightly aggrieved at having to repeat the tie, having been largely dominant on Saturday. Matt Rhead, Nick Rogan and James Ozmen in particular wasted good chances to send the Harriers spiralling out of the competition.
Corby boss Graham Drury bemoaned the score after the final whistle and admitted he was dissatisfied with the final outcome.
He told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: “We had the opportunity to go straight through and we didn’t take it. As it happens, one goal would have sealed it, but we just couldn’t get it despite a number of good chances.”
“As a result we have a tough mid-week replay against them on Wednesday, where we will find ourselves the underdogs like we did against Histon a few weeks ago.”
Kidderminster manager Steve Burr echoed his counterpart’s grumbles calling his side’s performance “disappointing” and admitted the Harriers are lucky to still be in the competition.
Corby find themselves going into tonight’s contest on a four match unbeaten run. Should they beat Burr’s outfit to extend that to five, they face yet another away trip in the FA Cup with Budwiser with Bristol Rovers awaiting the victors.
But despite a potential money-spinning tie looming in the near future, Graham Drury has called upon his side to concentrate on this evening’s proceedings and get a result against Burr’s outfit.
Drury is expected to name an unchanged side from Saturday, with no major injuries picked up during the game. Defender Paul Malone is still struggling with a groin injury and is expected to be named on the bench for the second game in a row.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
