Corby are set to take on Pro Evo Stik side North Ferriby in a FA Trophy replay tonight, with the reward of a place in the first round proper awaiting the victors.
The Steelmen were left frustrated against the lower league outfit on Saturday, finding themselves unable to build upon their early lead. As the game progressed, North Ferriby grew in confidence and grabbed a deserved equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
Graham Drury’s outfit fell at the first hurdle in the competition last season and James Denton almost ensured history repeated itself, nodding a header against the bar mid-way through the second half.
Steelmen boss Drury criticised his side, stating simply that the performance “wasn’t good enough.” The manager will no doubt be looking for a much-improved showing from his outfit tonight, as Corby bid to win their first match in four games.
Despite openly voicing his disapproval of his team’s efforts on Saturday, Drury is expected to name an unchanged side in Yorkshire, with no injury worries picked up in their last match.
The winners of tonight’s tussle will host Chester in the next round of the competition. Should the Steelmen progress, the first round FA Trophy fixture will be held at Steel Park on Saturday 10th December.
