Manchester brace yourself... The Steelboys are coming!!
James Harrison was the hero for Corby Town as they beat Dagenham & Redbridge 3-2 on penalties in a dramatic second-round tie in the FA Youth Cup.
Harrison started the night in his usual striker position but ended up in goal saving two penalties in the shootout after regular keeper Daniel Wallace had saved a penalty in normal time and then been sent off in the extra-time.
And it all means the Steelboys will be going to Premier League big guns Manchester City in the third round.
The Steelboys suffered a nightmare start as they fell behind in the sixth minute when a free-kick was tapped to Frost, who drove home a low shot from 20 yards.
But the hosts did need long to draw level as a poor defensive header, ironically from Frost, landed at the feet of Sam Watkins, who finished from close in.
The Daggers went back in front on 29 minutes as a ball over the top caught out the home defence and Jacobs neatly lobbed the advancing Daniel Wallace.
Connor Lenneghan should have levelled for Corby on 40 minutes but dragged his shot wide after getting through.
Moments into the second half, Wallace did well to deny Tim Monsheju and Joe Hopewell then headed off the line as Tom Davie threatened to get on the end of another speculative lob forward.
At the other end, Harrison had a half-hearted penalty appeal turned down while Morgan fired narrowly wide.
Then on 80 minutes, Frost had the chance to seal it for the Daggers when he was brought down in the box by Kieran Tarry.
But Wallace superbly saved the penalty and three minutes later Corby had a spot-kick of their own when Ellis Sands brought down Morgan in the box.
Morgan picked himself up and drove home the penalty to take the tie to extra-time.
Jacobs had the first chance of the extra period when he poked a shot wide when well placed while Morgan shot straight at the keeper from close range at the other end.
However, on 103 minutes, Wallace went from hero to villain as he was sent off for handling outside of his area.
Corby’s hopes appeared to leave the field with him but the visitors reckoned without Harrison.
He did what he had to to ensure the scored stayed at 2-2 and take things to the shootout.
He then saved from Sands and Foster, and Jordan-Daniel fired wide for the Daggers.
Morgan and Anthony Ottaway both scored before, fittingly, it was Harrison himself who slammed home what turned out to be Corby’s match-winning penalty.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
