Corby Town overcame a stern test against in-form Redbridge to progress to the First Round of the FA Youth Cup, in front of a crowd of 82 at Steel Park.
In a hard fought contest against the Reds, the first half looked as if it would end goalless, until the match sparked into life on 44 minutes when James Harrison netted the opening goal. The hosts weren't finished there though, and Sam Watkins added a second just a minute later to give Mark Peters' side a 2-0 lead at the break.
Joe Hopewell scored the only goal of the second period (75) to seal the win for Corby Town, who march on into the First Round proper of the competition and continue their fine run.
The Steelboys will host Colchester United in the next round, at Steel Park on Monday 31st October.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
