Long serving physio Kev Grundy left the club following Saturday's 2-0 victory against Colwyn Bay, after five seasons with the Steelmen.
Upon leaving the club Kev told Chuck Middleton and corbytownfc.co.uk; "Its a sad day, I've had nearly five years with the club. We've had some really great days and won a lot of trophies in that time. I think we have got a very strong squad this season too, so it is sad to go."
Grundy departs Steel Park, following a change in his career away from football, which has forced him to make the tough decision.
"I've had a different change of career in my day job and it has all started to catch up with me now," he said.
"I've been travelling down from Swindon and Reading at nights for training and then having to get back to Swindon or Reading again for 9am the next morning. It's just getting too much and unfortunately something had to give and sadly it had to be the part-time football.
"I am really going to miss the Saturday’s and the lads. This season is the best dressing room I've worked with for many many years. Certainly since we won the Southern League, and I think that this squad can go on to be as good, if not better."
During his time at Corby Town Grundy has witnessed so many highs and lows, however he is adament the highs definetely outweigh the lows:
"The highlight for me has to be winning the Southern League. The FA Cup games against Luton last year will always stick out in my mind too, as will the Maunsell Cup win over Peterborough United at the Rockingham Triangle.
"For me one of the other highlights for me was seeing our late chairman Peter Mallinger at Bedford the day we stayed up. I remember seeing him out in the car park smoking a cigar, and he just looked so happy and relieved. The strain had all disappeared from his face, it was great to see and was a definite positive for me. Then seeing him again a year later when we won the title, fantastic.
"The lads here are brilliant, I've made some great friends at the club and I will definitely stay in contact with them."
Corby Town manager Graham Drury also talked of his disappointment at losing his physio.
On Saturday, Drury said: "Today was Kev Grundy's last game, he's worked with me since day one here. As a physio he has been great, he has not got one thing wrong since we have been here. Every diagnosis has been spot on. The guy is a quality physio and will be so difficult to replace. He has always had great camaraderie with the lads here, and will be missed in the changing room.
"He has huge shoes to fill, both in size and in manner. I would like to thank Kev for everything he has done for me and the club and wish him well in the future, we will definitely miss him."
On behalf of everyone connected with the club www.corbytownfc.co.uk would like to wish Kev Grundy the best of luck in the future.
