Corby Town have added a further home friendly to their pre-season schedule after Blue Square Bet Premier side Luton Town agreed to visit a week before the season starts.
The Hatters will arrive on Saturday 6th August for a 3pm kick-off at the Steelmen's new stadium. Graham Drury's side were originally planning to face neighbours Kettering Town that afternoon but that game will now be re-arranged to accommodate the visit of the Play-Off finalists.
Manager Gary Brabin took over the hot seat at Kenilworth Road in March 2011, succeeding Richard Money and took Luton to within a penalty shoot-out of returning to the Football League. Denied by AFC Wimbledon on the day the Hatters start next season, once again, as the bookies' favourites to win the title and will offer a tough test for Corby in their final pre-season match.
This will be the third meeting between the two teams in nine months having met twice last season in the FA Cup. Corby nearly pulled off one of the shocks of the first round when they met at the Triangle at the start of November but the Bedfordshire outfit forced a replay with an equaliser seven minutes from time.
With a second round match against npower League 1 side Charlton Athletic the prize for the victors, Luton ran out 4-2 winners in the replay at Kenilworth Road to progress.
The sides will now meet at Corby's new stadium as part of a series of commemorative fixtures the club has planned to celebrate the launch of their new home.
Details of further pre-season games, as well as admission details for this match, and a re-arranged date for the Peter Mallinger Memorial Trophy match with the Poppies will be announced in due course.
