Corby Town have completed the signing of Jean Paul Marna on loan from Kettering Town until January.
Former Paris St Germain striker Marna was Kettering Town's leading goalscorer during both the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons, making him the club's leading career scorer with 75 strikes in 243 appearances.
The former French futsal international striker was transfer listed by the Poppies along with the entire playing squad earlier this month, despite being the club’s leading marksman having netted 7 goals in the Blue Square Premier Division this season.
There has been a lot of interest in the player recently, however he has opted to play at Steel Park ahead of offers from other clubs.
Corby Town manager Graham Drury told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: "I am delighted that JP has agreed to sign. It is a real coup for Corby; it demonstrates how ambitious we are as a football club to progress.
"I think it really shows how far we have come recently that a player of his calibre has turned down some very good offers to drop down a level and play for us. He knows the way that we like to play the game and he wants to be a part of it.
"For me, that is a fantastic acknowledgment of the progress we are making and I know that more than a few people in football are going to look at this and sit up and take notice.
"Once again I'd like to thank the board for backing me and allowing this to happen. Their support is brilliant and these really are exciting times at the club. I'd also like to place on record my thanks to Kettering for their co-operation and help in allowing JP to join us and for ensuring the deal was concluded swiftly."
Marna will go straight into the Corby Town squad ahead of Saturday’s match against North Ferriby United at Steel Park, following his parent-club giving their permission for him to play for the Steelmen in the FA Carlsberg Trophy.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
