Corby Town host Daventry Town at Steel Park this evening in a repeat of the 2010 NFA Hillier Cup Final.
The fixture, which was originally set to be played in October at Daventry Town has been postponed on a number of occasions due to Corby Town’s FA Cup and FA Trophy commitments, as well as adverse weather conditions. The two clubs therefore agreed this week that the tie should be switched to Corby.
Daventry currently sit 13th in the Southern League Division One Central division, and come into the cup match on the back of a 2-1 victory over North Greenwood United. They are managed by former Aston Villa, West Brom and Republic of Ireland midfielder Mark Kinsella.
The Corby Town defence, which is expected to include new signing Pat Bexfield, will have to be on top form against Town with striker Mark Bellingham having netted an impressive 13 times already this term.
The last time the sides met, the Steelmen sealed a 3-2 victory, with goals from Steve Diggin, Brett Solkhon and Leon Mettam securing the silverware.
The winners of this tie will face a trip to United Counties League side Peterborough Northern Star on Tuesday 10th January 2012 in the quarter finals looking to join holders Brackley Town, Corby Stewarts & Lloyds and Long Buckby in the semi-final draw.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
