Corby Town play host to Eastwood Town on Monday afternoon, having earned their first point in three games away at Histon on Saturday.
After the game Graham Drury predicted a Steelmen win in the very near future, if the side continue to press on and play positive football.
He said: “We can use the point we gained as a springboard. It’s a positive result because it gives us something to work on. Positives are that we gained a point away from home and we scored, so we’ve shown that we can do it.”
If the Steelmen are to walk away from Steel Park with three points, they will have to triumph over an Eastwood side that beat them twice last season. The Badgers, on the other hand, would love a repeat of the Rockingham Triangle clash where a Matt Rhead inspired Eastwood Town turned the screw on the Steelmen to run out 6-1 winners.
Eastwood finished fourth last year but where denied the opportunity to compete in the Blue Square Bet North Play-Offs because the ground was not deemed good enough to stage Conference Premier football. That verdict was the catalyst for a number of changes on and off the pitch and like Corby, albeit it for very different reasons, they will have a relatively different look to them when the teams meet tomorrow.
The Badger’s are currently joint-managed by Craig Armstrong and Jamie Brough who took over when former manager Paul Cox left for Mansfield Town.
They sit 10th in the Blue Square Bet North table, having managed seven points in five games. Despite a strong performance at home against Worcester City on Saturday, they found themselves on the losing side thanks to a 90th minute winner from substitute Luke Corbett.
Management duo Armstrong and Brough will look to former £3 million striker and player-coach Lee Morris as the Badger’s try to replicate their successes of last season. Corby will also have to be wary of Grimsby-born midfielder Joshua Burge. The youngster is said to have a quick turn of pace and scored a 91st minute equaliser against Droylsden on the opening day of the season.
Corby will be without experienced midfielder Andy Burgess, due to a groin strain picked up on Saturday. Sam Ives is expected to replace him, thanks to some lively substitute cameos. Defender Paul Malone is also expected to retain his place in the starting line-up after impressing on his return for the Steelmen.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
