The Steelmen will be aiming for a third win on the bounce when they face Hyde at Steel Park on Saturday afternoon.
Victories against title favourites FC Halifax Town and Ian Walker’s Bishop’s Stortford have seen Corby Town propel to the top of the league, scoring an impressive nine goals along the way.
Following an impressive attendance of 827 against Bishop's on Wednesday, another bumper crowd is expected at Steel Park for this match.
Boss Graham Drury has described the two triumphs as amazing team performances, praising his entire squad for their efforts at the start of the campaign. Despite the empathic manner in which the Steelmen have started their season, Drury is adamant they keep their feet on the ground, describing the Blue Square Bet North as “a tough old league.”
Hyde have also won their opening two matches, albeit in a more reserved manner then Corby’s thumping victories. Ryan Crowther and ex-Everton starlet Scott Spencer grabbed a goal each as the Tigers beat Worcester City 2-1.
A goal in the 89th minute against Colwyn Bay was enough to see Hyde retain their unbeaten status, Spencer scoring his second goal in two games.
Despite their struggle with relegation last season, the Greater Manchester side managed to do the double over Drury’s Steelmen; even emerging victorious in the last ever match at Rockingham Triangle.
Managed by Gary Lowe, Saturday's opponents finished 19th in 2010/11, just one place above the relegation zone. However with two wins out of two in the current season, the Tigers find themselves in an unfamiliar 3rd position.
Hyde strikers Ryan Crowther and Scott Spencer have both spent time on Merseyside, learning their trade with Liverpool and Everton respectively. Corby captain Phil Gulliver will have to make sure his defence holds firm against Hyde’s only two goal scorers this season.
Matt Rhead and Jordan Smith will have to contend with experienced defenders Gianluca Havern and Andy Pearson if they are to score on Saturday. The Steelmen strikers seem to be forming a formidable partnership, Rhead’s robustness combining with Smith’s speed creating a number of chances in the last game against Bishop's Stortford.
Nick Rogan is still struggling with an injury picked up at the Shay and is likely to sit on the bench as a substitute.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
