Corby Town welcome npower League 1 outfit Stevenage Football Club to Steel Park tonight, Tuesday 2nd August, as the club's pre-season campaign enters it's final stages.
The Steelmen will be looking to build on a fantastic 7-2 victory against Stamford AFC on Saturday, which resulted in a hat-tricks for both Matt Rhead and Gregg Smith.
The team appear to be gathering momentum at just the right time, as we head into the penultimate friendly looking for a third win on the bounce. Boss Graham Drury will be looking to use the match against Graham Westly’s side to firmly establish his strongest 11 for the first game of the new season, which kicks off on the 13th August against FC Halifax Town at The Shay.
Stevenage go into the game on the back of a 2-1 win over npower League 2 side Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday. The victory was their fourth in pre-season, which includes an impressive 1-0 win against Barclays Premier League club Fulham.
Corby’s defence will have to be at their best to keep new signings Guy Madjo and Robin Shroot at bay, both of whom are keen to impress their new manager before the new season kicks off on Saturday.
The Boro have had a particularly fruitful few years, securing consecutive promotions to rise from the Blue Square Premier to npower League 1. John Mousinho scored the only goal of the game when they beat Torquay in the League 2 play-off final last season at Old Trafford. The club also took home the coveted ‘Outstanding Team Performance’ trophy at the 2011 Football League Awards, after they beat Newcastle United 3-1 in the FA Cup third round.
Corby Town are boosted ahead of the match, following the news that striker Nick Rogan has agreed terms to stay at Steel Park for the 2011/12 season. The Blackpool-born striker will be looking to celebrate his signing with a third goal in as many games.
Ticket prices for the match are Adults £7, Concession £3 (over 60 and full-time students - proof required), Under 16's £1. There is a special offer of buy 2 get 1 free i.e. Adults £14, Concession £6 and Under 16's £2
