Corby Town proved too strong for Stamford AFC, as they scored a magnificent seven at the Vic Couzens Stadium.
The match did not start as the Steelmen had planned however, with the Daniels taking the lead. However on a sunny afternoon in Lincolnshire Matt Rhead completed a first half hat-trick to put the Blue Square Bet North side in control.
Rhead, who joined from Eastwood Town last month, converted a penalty kick before beating former Steelmen keeper Lee Windrum with two powerful headers before the break.
The second half began the same as the first, with a Stamford goal, but again the Steelmen replied positively via a deft lob by Nick Rogan and a hat-trick from second half subtitute Gregg Smith.
This victory will no doubt be a huge boost for Drury's squad as the new Blue Square Bet North season closes in.
Corby have just two pre-season matches left to play against Stevenage (Tuesday 2nd August) and Luton Town (Saturday 6th August) at Steel Park.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
