Corby piper Rob Muir and representatives from Corby Town FC were on hand to help mark the opening of the new look ASDA store in Corby yesterday.
Chairman David Mallinger, first-team player Paul Malone and academy player Aiden Ashton officially opened the store with a kickabout while Mr Muir played on.
To thank the Steelmen for their support, Asda has donated £500 to the Corby Town academy to help provide facilities for the youth team for next season.
Signed footballs were also raffled off for Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign, which benefits Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Campaign.
Asda, in Phoenix Parkway, has been operating on reduced hours for the past 12 weeks while work was being carried out to install new checkouts, a larger health and beauty department and new grocery ranges.
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
