On the eve of the first pre-season game at the new stadium Corby Town can confirm they have made some changes to the structure of the club off the field.
Graham Starmer, co-owner with Acting Chairman David Mallinger, has accepted the role of Vice Chairman with immediate effect and the club is also pleased to announce that Martin Harris has joined the Steelmen in the role of General Manager.
Starmer joined the board in January and has been involved in the main on the football and commercial fronts. Harris will combine his role with that at the FootballCV Academy where he is Academy Manager and he will take on some of the responsibility for the day-to-day running of the club.
Vastly experienced at all levels of club football, Martin spent twelve seasons at Kettering Town, initially as a coach, and worked with the under-10 age group all the way through to the first-team in a variety of roles. As well as his experience with the Poppies and FootballCV Martin has spent time coaching in Chicago, Detriot, Indianapolis and Milwaukee.
It is with regret the club can also announce that due to her other commitments Helen Thompson will be standing down from her role as Chief Executive at the end of the month, which has prompted the appointment of Martin. Helen will however remain involved at board room level after agreeing to a non-executive director role, with a particular responsibility for finance and governance.
In addition to this non-executive directors Les Manning, David Dunham and Mick Leech have become vice presidents of the club.
Acting Chairman David Mallinger commented: "It has been necessary to make some changes to the way we operate as a team off the field but we are pleased that Martin has been able to take on a new role, and whilst it is with regret we lose Helen's input on a regular basis we are pleased she is able to commit to continue to play a part in the future of Corby Town."
Starmer added “We hope the contacts and experience we have gained at FootballCV will benefit the club and some of this has already come to fruition with the Rangers game and some of the sponsorship deals we have secured. We also understand the importance of developing young players and is a vital ingredient to any successful club."
