Corby Town have snapped up highly rated front man Matt Rhead from under the noses of a number of clubs. The 6' 4” striker was attracting interest from clubs in npower League 1 and the Blue Square Bet Premier but has been persuaded to remain in the Blue Square Bet North by Steelmen boss Graham Drury.
The big striker has agreed terms after spending last season with Eastwood Town, where he netted in both games against the Steelmen on his way to 12 goals in 14 league appearances. He has also played for Congleton Town, Nantwich and Kidsgrove.
A delighted Drury commented: “He is one of the most awkward customers we've come across and I'm thrilled to bits that he's agreed to sign.

“He will give us the right balance up front and it means the core of the side are going to be over 6 foot, we're going to be a big strong side down the middle with a blend of experience and energetic youngsters complementing that.”
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
