Get your boots ready kids because Corby Town Football Club are teaming up with Corby Borough Council in tackling racism. The club are supporting Kick it Out campaign to bring you a FREE football skills session.
Keen footballers, of any ability, aged between 8-16 can take to the pitch on Friday 28th October and learn some essential football skills as part of the Kick Racism out of Football Campaign.
The Steelmen will be providing top-class football training with former first-team coach and current head coach of the FootballCV Academy Danny Nicholls and Corby Town club captain Phil Gulliver taking the session.
Danny, who holds a UEFA A license, was with the Steelmen up to the end of last season having helped the team win the Southern League and establish themselves in the Blue Square North. As well as working at the FootballCV Academy, he has also coached at Northampton Town and Kettering Town and has developed players who now play in the Premier League and Championship.
Phil has been with the Steelmen since in 2008 and has played an instrumental part in the team's success since he signed. The former Middlesbrough trainee has played for Blackpool, Carlisle, Bournemouth, Bury, Scunthorpe in the Football League.
The Steelmen are supporting the national Kick it Out campaign which aims to eradicate racism and discrimination from football, promoting equality throughout all levels of the game.
Kick It Out works throughout the football, educational and community sectors to challenge discrimination, encourage inclusive practices and work for positive change.
Corby Borough Councils Lead Member for Community, Cllr John McGhee said: “Football is a game that anyone can enjoy regardless of race, sex or belief.
“By holding our own Kick it Out event, Corby people have the opportunity to highlight the Borough's community spirit as well as enjoying a great day out with family and friends.”
The session will be held at West Glebe Park, Cottingham Road, Corby, and will run from 3pm - 4.30pm.
