Corby Town have completed the signing of Ollie Thorne from last season's Blue Square Bet South champions Braintree Town.
The 21-year-old defender, born in Gravesend, began his career with MK Dons as a youth team player, moving on to Forest Green Rovers at the beginning of 2009/10.
He departed for Newport County after 20 appearances, helping the Welsh side gain promotion to the Blue Square Premier Division.
Thorne left Newport that summer to join Kidderminster Harriers, however following a short loan spell with Rushden & Diamonds at the turn of the year, he left the Aggborough Stadium for Braintree.
Corby Town boss Graham Drury is pleased to have captured Thorne, and told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: "Ollie is a big, powerful, 6' 3" centre-half and I'm glad to have him on board. He was made skipper at Forest Green Rovers at the age of 19 so it's another young, ambitious leader to join the ranks."
Corby Town have received a positive response from applicants to the role of first-team manager.
