TRAVEL CLUB SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR STEELMEN SCORERS
23rd September 2011
Corby Town are continuing to lead the way in non-league football with their unique approach to raising funds through commercial activities at Steel Park.
After successfully selling their away shirt sponsorship last week in a silent auction, the club have now received the generous backing of the Steelmen Travel Club to their recently launched Steelmen Scorers scheme.
The unique goal sponsorship was set up so that supporters who couldn't afford a player kit sponsorship package but wanted to do something to the help the club could. Fans are invited to pledge a minimum of 50p for every goal scored or clean sheet kept (or both if feeling generous) at a) home b) away or c) in total throughout the 2011/12 season.
That support can be for the team, or a specific player and in the case of the Travel Club, they have generously chosen to back the club to the tune of £20 every time striker Nick Rogan finds the net this season.
The travel club was set up by supporters in 2008 to run coaches to Corby Town away games across the country and provides an invaluable service to fans. It is currently run on a voluntarily basis by Connor McNally and Dan Douglas.
After pledging to support the club in this innovative fund raiser, Connor explained: “*****We have supported the club in a number of ways in the last couple of seasons but when this scheme was launched it seemed the perfect way for us to back the club this year; it's something a bit different and it'll be fun.
“We look to subsidise the cost of away travel to get as many fans to games as we can through things like football cards etc and with the improved performances on the pitch recently the interest in coming to away matches has increased so we're hoping we'll spend many a happy journey on the motorway celebrating the points we've picked up and the more goals Nick Rogan can score along the way, the happier we'll be to hand over the money.****”
The Travel Club run buses to all games and have just announced details for the second round FA Cup qualifying trip to Histon on 1st October. It's £5 a seat and the buses will leave from the Samuel Lloyd Weatherspoon's pub at 12pm. To book your seat please contact the Steelmen Travel Club on 07850 474215.
Steelmen Scorers sponsors are listed on the website and in the programme during the campaign and anyone who contributes to the scheme through option a or c could also be randomly named over the PA every time a goal is scored at Steel Park.
At the end of the season, each sponsor will go into a random prize draw and could win either one season ticket, if an individual sponsor, or a pair of season tickets if a business (minimum pledge is £2.50) for 2012/13 season.
There will be one individual and one company who wins the draw.
