Corby Town Football Club in conjunction with Manor School Sports College are offering aspiring footballers the chance to gain a place within the Corby Town Football Academy. The academy, based at Manor School Sports College in Raunds, is open to boys who wish to continue their football development as well as gaining nationally recognised educational and sport specific qualifications.
Trial dates will take place at Manor School Sports College on 19 December 2011, 14 January and 4 February 2012 and is open to all current Year 11 students. Successful trialists will receive a minimum of 10 hours of football coaching a week from UEFA qualified coaches as well as studying for a BTEC Level 3 in Sport: Development, Coaching and Fitness. Students will also have the opportunity to gain their FA Levels 1 and 2 in coaching football as well being able to travel abroad on annual football tours.
The two year course is run in conjunction with Corby Town Football Club and players will represent Corby Town in the Football Conference Youth Alliance League as well as the FA Youth Cup. Players will also represent Manor School Sports College both in the British College League as well as the National Schools Cup. Any players that show a high level of ability and commitment may also be given the chance to train and play with the Corby Town first team in the Blue Square Bet North.
Mark Peters, Manager of Corby Town Under-19s, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for boys to continue their education in a football environment. A couple of boys have already trained with the first team squad this season and Luke Fairlamb has travelled with the squad and been named amongst the substitutes.”
Corby Town Football Academy Manager Dale Brunton added: “The boys on the course will experience and learn a lot of new things in their two years with us. Our current second years all have a number of options open to them if they are not successful in gaining a contract with the first team. Some will be attending university whilst others have already been offered scholarships to continue their education whilst playing in the United States.”
Players will receive the following:
• A chance to study a BTEC Level 3 in Sport Development, Coaching and Fitness (equivalent of 3 A-Levels) whilst also receiving full-time football coaching from UEFA qualified coaching staff. • The opportunity to represent Corby Town Football Club in the Conference Youth Alliance League and FA Youth Cup as well as playing for the College in the British Colleges League and National Schools Cup. • The opportunity to train and play for Corby Town Football Club in the Blue Square League North. • The chance to go on annual football tours as well as having the opportunity to gain football scholarships to the United States. • Access to a qualified physiotherapist throughout their two year scholarship. • Opportunity to train on state of the art 3-G Astro turf pitch as well as access to fully equipped gym. • Discount rented accommodation (family housing) is also available to students who live outside of a commutable distance from college. • Chance to complete FA Level 1 and 2 Coaching Badges in Football.
