Kev Cushen's Corby Town U18's unbeaten run came to an end, with a thumping defeat at the hands of local rivals Corby S&L on Wednesday evening.
A bad night for the Steelboys started just ten seconds into the game, when they found themselves a goal behind. S&L dominated proceedings at Occupation Road, with the visitors only having goalkeeper Luke Smith and some last ditch defending to thank for still being in the match. However the half ended as it had begun for Corby, conceding to make it 2-0 to the hosts at the break.
The second half did see an improvement from Corby Town, but it was too little too late, especially when they found themselves 3-0 down. Jake Bettles did restore some pride for Corby with a goal from the spot, as did Luke Smith who made a fine save to deny S&L a fourth of the evening when they were awarded a penalty of their own.
Manager Kev Cushen was fuming about his side's lacklustre display in the Steeltown Derby, telling www.corbytownfc.co.uk: "It was a very bad night for us, we just were not at the races.
"No matter what level of football you are playing at whether it's; Celtic v Rangers, Liverpool v Everton or youth football, derbies are all about passion and desire, two key elements that our midfield did not have tonight."
