Corby Town returned from Worcestershire with all three points, thanks to second half goals from skipper Phil Gulliver and striker Nick Rogan in front of a Non League Day crowd of 921.
Graham Drury made just one enforced change as his charges looked to end the host's five-match unbeaten run, with Aynsley McDonald replacing the suspended Delroy Gordon at right back.
It was the visitors who started the match brightly, with Matt Rhead and Nick Rogan both going close to scoring the opener, as the Steelmen dominated proceedings. Also last ditch tackles from the City defence ensured that the game remained goalless.
The home side then shot into life, causing the Corby defence problems. They could have taken the lead mid-way through the half, however goalkeeper Chris Mackenzie was equal to the impressive Mike Symons effort.
Corby Town replied with a quick counter attack, where a brilliant move involving Rhead, Rogan and Jordan Smith released Andy Hall one-on-one with Worcester goalkeeper James Dormand, but the goalkeeper won the battle with a fine stop.
Chris Mackenzie was not to be outdone by his counterpart, as he was forced into making a string of impressive saves to keep the match tied at the half time whistle.
The match remained tight in the second period, with both defences holding strong, but the Steelmen were looking increasingly dangerous from set pieces. Just minutes into the second half Paul Malone rose above everyone to header the ball past Dormand, only to see the ball rebound off the post.
This seemed to be the wake up call that Worcester needed, and they began to apply pressure on the Corby goal. Symons and Birley were looking lively for the hosts, but they could not find a way through Malone and Gulliver in the Corby defence.
The Corby threat from set pieces continued on the hour mark as Malone headered across goal to Phil Gulliver, who thought he had given his side the lead, but was denied by an athletic stop from the outstanding Dormand.
This resulted in another corner for the visitors, which was a carbon copy of the first as Malone squared the ball to Gulliver yet again, however this time the Corby skipper made no mistake, with a powerful header into the roof of the net on 64 minutes.
The goal filled Drury's men with confidence, as they poured forward in search for a second goal. Striker Nick Rogan headed over from close range, before Andy Hall's 25-yard strike was saved by Dormand at full stretch.
Hall was again involved as Corby Town doubled their advantage. The tricky winger weaved past three men before being upended on the edge of the penalty area.
Nick Rogan stepped up to take the resulting free kick, driving the ball powerfully under the wall and passed the helpless Dormand after 73 minutes, to score his third goal in two games.
City were not ready to give up their unbeaten home record without a fight however, and everybody at St Georges Lane thought that Tom Thorley had pulled one back for the Loyals after he had avoided Paul Malone's sliding challenge, but Chris Mackenzie pulled off a magnificent block to deny the home side a glint of hope.
This spurred Corby on further. Jordan Smith struck the post following a mazy run, minutes before Matt Rhead saw his fierce shot athletically saved by the ever impressive Dormand.
With just seconds remaining, referee Steven Copeland awarded Worcester a penalty kick for a handball. If nothing else, the spot-kick provided Carl Heeley's men to give their bumper home crowd something to cheer. Chris Mackenzie had not read the script however, as he stretched to save the penalty and ensure that Corby moved up to fifth in the Blue Square Bet North table.
