Saturday is Turn Steel Park Pink day at Corby Town, as the club urges supporters to partake in the fun activities on offer and raise money for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer charity as part of the Non-League Day festivities.
However, amid everything else on offer there is an important Blue Square Bet North fixture taking place, pitting two in form sides against each other in what is expected to be a fantastic advert for non-league football.
Steel Park had become somewhat of an unhappy place for Corby Town fans, who had witnessed their side pick up just four league points at home during the whole of 2012 upto September. No matter what team or manager was in place it seemed as though there was a dark cloud hanging over Jimmy Kane Way and it was refusing to lift.
When Ian Sampson resigned with the club rock bottom at the start of September few Corby fans felt that this record would improve any time soon.
How wrong could they be? Fast forward a month and Plummer has not only managed to win at home, his charges have won four consecutive matches at Steel Park in all competitions, scoring 12 goals in the process. The feel good factor is back at Corby Town and with the the Steelmen having lost just one of their last eight fixtures, they will be hoping to extend that record on Saturday.
The hosts are not the only side with an impressive record however, with Saturday’s visitors currently 7th in the league and unbeaten in their last five league matches. Only Brackley Town, Chester and Vauxhall Motors have got the better of Lee Sinnott’s men so far this campaign.
The Robins also possess the league’s most prolific marksman Damien Reeves, who has netted 13 league goals already this campaign. This form has seen him this week nominated for the North West Non-League Player of the Year.
