Corby Town are set to return home tomorrow, as they welcome Lincolnshire-based side Boston to Steel Park in the Blue Square Bet North.
Victory against Blyth Spartans last weekend saw the Steelmen maintain their impressive away form in the league, with Graham Drury’s outfit now unbeaten on the road since September.
However fixtures at home have proved a different beast altogether. Steelfans will have to look back to November for Corby’s last league win at Steel Park, a 5-2 victory against Droylsden.
Manager Graham Drury has admitted he is flummoxed at his side’s inability to win at home and can’t quite pinpoint the reason.
He told www.corbytownfc.co.uk: “It’s weird! I just don’t know what it is about the ground. In the early days we looked set to make Steel Park a fortress, beating teams by four, five and six goals.
“But at the moment it’s just not clicking for us at home and that is incredibly frustrating. We’re definitely looking to put that right against Boston, especially after the effort we’ve put in in the last two fixtures.”
Corby will take to the field at Steel Park off the back of two impressive away results which has seen them stay in close contention for a play-off place. The Steelmen currently sit just six points behind 5th placed Gainsborough and have a game in hand.
Opponents Boston aren’t too far behind, finding themselves at 12th in the BSN table and five points behind Graham Drury’s outfit.
The Pilgrims are still on the hunt for their first win in 2012, a victorious result eluding them in their four fixtures of the New Year so far. Leon Constantine thought he had snatched success in the dying moments against Nuneaton Town last Saturday, but his tap-in was deemed offside by the assistant referee.
But Boston fans will take solace from the stalemate against Nuneaton, as the Pilgrims recorded their first clean sheet since November.
Tomorrow’s fixture against Boston will be of special significance to Steelmen boss Graham Drury, as it will be four years to the day that he took up the mantle at Corby.
Speaking to the Evening Telegraph Drury has said he is delighted to still be at the helm and has spoke of his dedication to the Corby cause.
The gaffer is set to name an unchanged side against the Pilgrims with both Aynsley McDonald and Jean-Sylvain Dossou struggling with injuries.
