Corby Town host Northampton Town at Steel Park on Saturday afternoon in their second pre-season friendly of the campaign.
The Cobblers are currently managed by Aidy Boothroyd and play in NPower League 2. The squad have recently returned from a pre-season tour of Croatia, which ended with an emphatic 6-1 friendly win against local side Novigrad.
Ian Sampson’s Steelmen were also victorious in their opening pre-season match, as goals from Ricky Miller (2), Avelino Vieira and Jon Stead secured a 4-1 win against ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League side Harborough Town on Wednesday evening.
The match, which is the first under the new chairman and manager, at Steel Park pits Sampson against his previous employers. Former Cobblers stars Leon McKenzie, Andy Holt and Jason Crowe are also expected to feature for Corby Town.
The sides last met in 2010, when goals from Courtney Herbert and Steve Guinan ensured a 2-1 victory for the visitors at the Rockingham Triangle, despite Ben Mackey levelling for Corby.
The Steelmen were victorious however in 2009 when a Jason Lee strike and an own goal from Chris Willmott ensured the win despite a late consolation from Corby lad Billy McKay for the Cobblers.
