The Corby Town Supporters Trust is holding a charity launch party tonight, Friday 12th October, at Corby Rugby Club, on Rockingham Road.
The evening aims to celebrate the CTST’s formation during the summer as a not-for-profit Community Benefit Society. All funds raised on the night will be split between the trust and
the Breakthrough breast cancer charity.
The event is open to members and non-members, and is an opportunity to enjoy a fun social event with other Corby Town supporters.
Local band Shadow on the Sun, fronted by Corby Town fan and trust member Luke Monahan, will provide the entertainment for the evening, along with a disco. There will also be a chance to hear from trust representatives, Jacqui Forster of Supporters Direct and Steelmen chairman Kevin
Ingram.
The doors open at 7.00pm, with tickets available for just £1 on the door.
The trust have also organised a charity raffle, with a number of local businesses and individuals already donating prizes.
The first prize is a VIP Day for 4 people at a Corby Town home fixture, which was kindly donated by the football club.
The Holiday Inn – Brighton have also offered an overnight stay in their award winning hotel as the second prize.
Corby fan Paul Beattie has donated a match worn David Healy number 9 Fulham shirt for the draw too, which is extremely generous given his love for the Northern Ireland striker.
There are also many more prizes on offer, with fans also encouraged to bring any further prize donations on the night. Please support the raffle and help us to raise money for a very worthy cause.
The Corby Town Supporters Trust was registered by the FSA under the Industrial and
Provident Societies Act 1965, on 3rd July 2012, as the Corby Town Supporters Society Ltd. (Registered Number: 31667 R).
The trust is an independent, democratic, not-for-profit organisation, committed to providing a voice for Corby Town fans and the local community.
The aim is to have the benefit of the fans, the club and the local community at the heart
of everything it does. It will strive to canvass the opinion of members on all major issues
related to the fans and the club and then aim to represent these views accurately.
Breakthrough Breast Cancer is a charity dedicated to saving lives by finding the causes of breast cancer, improving detection, diagnosis, treatment and services.
In addition to raising money for the charity at the launch party the Corby Town Supporters Trust and Corby Town Football Club have been working in partnership to organise a breast cancer awareness day on Saturday 13th October for Non League Day, when supporters are encouraged to turn Steel Park pink.
Corby Town Supporters’ Trust spokesperson Robbie Dunion said: “We would also like to thank our neighbours at Corby Rugby Club for providing their fantastic venue for this event. It is great to see that the generousity of Corby people transcends across the sporting divide and that community
spirit lives strong.”
“The party is open to everyone and we would like invite the people of Corby to come and celebrate the start of a special journey with us. We believe that together the fans of Corby can make a positive difference at our town’s football club and in our local community.”
“All members have a right to vote for who they would like to represent them on the initial supporters trust board, as democracy is at the centre of our ethos, so we would like as many people to sign up and have their say.”
