SUBWAY® are one the world’s most well known brands with over 30000 outlets around the globe. Yet each SUBWAY® is a franchise owned by an individual from the community and staffed by local people.
SUBWAY® wanted to celebrate this connection by contributing to something the community cherishes. But what? Young people are the lifeblood of a local town and as many visit SUBWAY®, there seemed a potential link with this group. SUBWAY® also wanted to create an opportunity for local people to excel so were looking to work alongside others already doing the same. And they wanted to find a partner that was popular in the community and which every local citizen would recognise.
Sport has always been an important part of any neighbourhood, so SUBWAY® decided to work with local football clubs, but in a different way. This would not be about putting the SUBWAY® name on a shirt or taking an executive box, but by creating a way to invest in the young or the disadvantaged. So, in the 2012/13 season, all SUBWAY® in the Corby area will be joining forces with Corby Town Football Club to bring in much-needed additional funding for our young footballers.
To do this, local SUBWAY® stores in 62 Corporation Street, 13 Charter Court, 1 Princewood Road and Rockingham Park will donate some of their takings towards the club. Every time anyone buys one of a number of specially selected Subs, SUBWAY® will give 10p to the club. And they’ll be doing that every single day of the entire 2012/13 football season! Look out for more details in your local SUBWAY® and around the ground.
For those who love their SUBWAY® Subs, it is a unique chance to help the young players of Corby Town. For those who have never tasted one, it is both a chance to help the club and enjoy a fantastic Sub sandwich for the first time!
As a local business, it gives every SUBWAY® franchisee the chance to give something back to the community they serve Shabnam Patel and Yatin Trivedy, are owners of the SUBWAY® Stores involved and are delighted to be supporting Corby Town FC in this way until the end of the season.
“Sport plays an essential part in our community and we hope to help these young players get the things they need with everyone’s support.” said Shabnam. Yatin went on to say: “Whatever is raised will go straight to the club, so the more support we get, the better it is for the kids.”
Corby Town chairman Kevin Ingram is equally enthusiastic. “We’re so pleased that the 62 Corporation Street, 13 Charter Court, 1 Princewood Road and Rockingham Park Leisure SUBWAY® Stores will be donating money to our club. We’ll be using the funds for our academy teams from Under 8’s to Under 18’s. It will help us to purchase much needed kits, equipment and provide the best possible coaching to Corby children.”
Rory Clark, chairman of the Corby Town Supporters’ Trust added, “Our aim is to ensure that Corby Town is a real community club. It is great that SUBWAY® also recognize the importance of the local community and our youth teams will really benefit from the support.”
