Corby Town's new Youth Academy will commence pre-season this Thursday 2nd August at Kingswood School. With a large number of players already committed to the new set up for the 2012-13 season, Head of Youth Mark Peters and his team will be keen to get onto the training ground with their new charges. Running from U9's through to U16's, the sides are set to compete in a number of friendly fixtures during the season, whilst the older age groups have also entered into the Midland Junior Premier League.
Director of Football Operations Martin Harris commented "We have worked hard over the past few months in putting a structure together, that will enable the club to develop younger players in and around the community. These players will play a key part in our football club and further strengthens our youth program. This follows on from various successes in competitions last season, were we reached the third round of the FA Youth Cup, losing in an exciting game against Manchester City".
First team manager Ian Sampson has also taken a keen interest in the new set up, taking time out at last weeks trials to speak to the group on his expectations for the younger players of Corby Town.
Martin Harris continued, "Our Manager is very active in his support of our new youth scheme, this is very important and along with our Academy staff, we are keen to help players to progress with us".
Players wishing for further information or want to request a trial for Corby Town's Youth Academy, are asked to email Head of Youth Mark Peters via mpeters@corbytownfc.co.uk.
