The best way to keep up to date with Corby Town FC

Two more legends added to the @NonLgeChallenge Team

BREAKING | One of England's legendary lions of Euro 96 joins our Legends XI on July 30th to take on @corbytownfc. Welcome @DarrenAnderton! ?

Joining Darren in the legends team for the match this Sunday, 30th July, will be goalkeeper Mark Crossley.

Capped 30 times for England, ‘sicknote’ is widely regarded as one of the best wingers of his generation, and if it wasn’t for injuries he would have earned a lot more caps. Anderton was one of the star performers for his country in Euro 96 and came agonisingly close to firing his nation into the final, hitting the post during the golden goal extra time period in their semi-final loss to Germany.

12 seasons at Tottenham and 1 with Birmingham in the premier league gave Anderton a career 319 top flight games with 37 goals. Andertons only club honour came in the 1999 League cup with an injury time 1-0 win over Matt Elliot’s foxes in the final.

Mark Crossley has 204 premier league appearances to his name, with the majority of these coming during his 12 year stay at Nottingham Forest. Mark also appeared in the top flight for Middlesbrough and Fulham. Crossley has the honourable satisfaction of being the only ‘keeper to have saved a Matt Le Tissier penalty, the only penalty in Tiss’ career that was not converted.
He remarkably has one goal to his name, coming for Sheffield Wednesday in injury time to salvage a draw in the championship 3-3 draw with Southampton.
An under 21 international for England, Crossley decided to pledge his allegiance to Wales, and made 8 appearances for the country.
